Meditative Aids

Creating sacred space is at the heart of meditation. However we choose to practise. Through silence, sound, scent, movement or reflection – the right tools can make all the difference. These are the supports we’ve used ourselves to deepen presence, clear distractions and get the most out of the time we carve out to meditate.

Scent & Atmosphere

Scent has always been part of our meditative rituals. It instantly shifts the mood and helps create sacred space. From incense and smudging to oils and diffusers, these are the aromas we’ve turned to for clearing, grounding and inviting calm.

Essential Oil Diffuser
Charlotte Recommends: Diffusing essential oils into the room whilst you mediation enables you to create a sensory anchor that supports your mindfulness journey, potentially leading to more profound and effective meditation sessions.
Harmonised Spray
Sally Recommends: This spray is buzzing with naturally uplifting signatures of gem and flower essences and essential oils along with some vibrationally imprinted frequencies – the signautre proces of the makers. These are concentrated potions, so a little goes a long way! I use them to maintain clear space after a sound bath ot meditation. I simply spray once or twice into each corner and in the centre of the room. It smells divine and helps reset the room for my next experience in it.
Natural incense
Charlotte Recommends: The use of incense in meditative environments creates a calming atmosphere that enhances relaxation and focus. The scents of incense can positively influence the mind and body, promoting a deeper meditative state by engaging the limbic system, which is responsible for emotions and memories. Additionally, the ritual of lighting incense can signal the start of a meditation practice, helping to establish a sacred space for reflection and mindfulness. This variety set is great it has Palo Santo and White Sage but also 3 other ancient scent combinations. It’s charcoal free so the smoke is cleaner.
White Sage Incense sticks
Charlotte Recommends: The use of incense in meditative environments creates a calming atmosphere that enhances relaxation and focus. The scents of incense can positively influence the mind and body, promoting a deeper meditative state by engaging the limbic system, which is responsible for emotions and memories. Additionally, the ritual of lighting incense can signal the start of a meditation practice, helping to establish a sacred space for reflection and mindfulness. One of my favourites is White Sage. Commonly used in smudging rituals to clear negative energy and invite blessings. Its aromatic smoke is thought to create a spiritually clean environment, making it ideal for meditation and other spiritual practices.
Incense holder
Charlotte Recommends: I love this holder as no matter what type of incense I use it can hold it. Which is great as a lot get multiple uses. I think it’s aesthetically pleasing too so I don’t mind leaving it out.
Essential Oil set
Charlotte Recommends: Essential oils play a significant role in enhancing meditative practices by engaging the sense of smell and promoting a calming atmosphere. When used during meditation, essential oils can help focus the mind, reduce stress, and deepen relaxation. I like Nikura as they are hand-blended here in the UK. this set are the 5 best selling mixes all of which are a great enhancment to any meditation. I enjoy sprinkling them in the bath, or putting a diffuser on in the room.
Chakra essential oil set
Charlotte Recommends: Essential oils play a significant role in enhancing meditative practices by engaging the sense of smell and promoting a calming atmosphere. When used during meditation, essential oils can help focus the mind, reduce stress, and deepen relaxation. I like Nikura as they are hand-blended here in the UK. This set has 7 blends aimed to work on each of the chakras. Add them to a diffuser, sprinkle them in the bath, or even apply topically to the skin.
Palo Santo Stick
Charlotte Recommends: Palo Santo sticks are often preferred over incense for their unique, sweet aroma and gentle cleansing properties, making them ideal for creating a calming atmosphere during meditation. Unlike traditional incense, which can produce stronger and more pervasive smoke, Palo Santo offers a softer scent that enhances focus without overwhelming the senses.
Smudge Set
Charlotte Recommends: Smudging is a ceremonial practice that involves burning sacred herbs, such as sage, sweetgrass, or cedar, to cleanse spaces and individuals of negative energy. Typically performed by lighting the herb bundle and allowing the smoke to waft around the area or over the person being cleansed often using a ritual feather to help direct the smoke, the ritual is often accompanied by setting intentions or prayers. This ancient practice, rooted in Indigenous traditions, is believed to purify the environment, promote healing, and create a sacred atmosphere for meditation and reflection. This set has a white sage bundle, a feather and a Abalone Shell on a stand to put the bundle once complete. I smudge my house before and after visitors come. I smudge new homes of friends and families or a space where an argument has taken place to remove the energies.
White Sage smudge torch
Charlotte Recommends: A white sage torch typically includes dried white sage bundled together for ceremonial use, traditionally employed to cleanse spaces of negative energy and invite blessings. When burned, the aromatic smoke is believed to purify the environment, making it an essential tool for creating a sacred space for meditation or spiritual practices.

Amplifying Meditation

Certain practices help us drop in more deeply. Colouring mandalas, working with sound, or simply adding a creative element can amplify the meditative state and make the experience even more immersive.

Amazing Patterns adult colouring book
Charlotte Recommends: Meditation means different things to different people. Not everyone finds it easy to sit and empty their mind. the benefits of meditation can be felt in many different medium, and one I love is meditative colouring. It offers numerous benefits that promote mental well-being and relaxation. Engaging in creative activity helps reduce stress and anxiety by being present in the moment which quietens the mind and can induce a meditative state. The repetitive motion of colouring enhances mindfulness, improves motor skills. This a therapeutic outlet that fosters creativity while supporting emotional health. This was my first book and I’ve it and got such benefit I bought many others.
In-Harmony Meditation Chair
Charlotte Recommends: I actually supported the creation of the InHarmony chair through Kickstarter and was the first person to have one in the UK — and honestly, it completely exceeded my expectations. It’s one of the most immersive sound and vibration experiences I’ve personally tried. The chair combines sound, vibration, and guided meditation in a way that helps create a deeply calming and embodied experience. Rather than simply listening to sound, you physically feel the vibrations moving through the body via the subwoofer built into the chair, which creates a very different sensory experience to traditional meditation practices. What I particularly love about it is that it makes meditation feel more accessible for people who struggle to “switch off” mentally or find traditional meditation difficult. The combination of sound and physical vibration gives your mind and body something tangible to focus on, helping you settle into a calmer state much more naturally and passively. For me, this is less about forcing meditation and more about creating an environment that helps your nervous system slow down and respond differently. It’s genuinely unlike anything else I’ve experienced in this space. This link includes a 5% discount just for you.

Tibetan Bowl
Charlotte Recommends: Tibetan singing bowls have been used for centuries within meditation, mindfulness, and reflective practices to create rich, resonant tones that many people find deeply calming and grounding. The sustained sound and vibration can help slow the mind down, create moments of stillness, and support relaxation or meditation practices. What I personally like about singing bowls is that they create an experience that feels both sensory and immersive. The sound encourages you to pause, focus, breathe, and notice how your body and nervous system respond in the moment, which is why so many people incorporate them into mindfulness and sound healing practices. I particularly like this set because it combines the more traditional feel of Tibetan singing bowls with a little extra colour and personality, making them feel both practical and visually beautiful within a calming space or ritual.

Sometimes a little extra guidance opens the door to deeper reflection. Oracle cards, tarot, and runes have all supported our practice by offering fresh perspectives and symbolic insight along the way.

Meditation Accessories

Creating the right environment matters. Simple additions like sand gardens or always using the same hooded blanket that turn a simple practice into a personal ritual. Helping us settle, stay present and feel supported during meditation.

Large Copper Pyramid
Charlotte Recommends: Copper pyramids work as energy amplifiers and conductors due to copper’s high electrical conductivity. The pyramid shape focuses and concentrates cosmic or universal energy, and the copper material enhances the transmission of this energy throughout the structure. When meditating within a copper pyramidy ou’ll experiencing a more intense and focused energy field, leading to deeper states of relaxation, enhanced meditation experiences, and accelerated healing processes. I absolutely love mine. I meditate on an InHarmonyCushion and teh sounds are trapped in the pyarmid making the effects more intense.
Hooded blanket
Charlotte Recommends: Meditation quite often can mean sitting still for a reasonable period of time (from 10mins to an hour) and the last thing you want is to feel the chill. These hooded blankets are super soft, super cute and really effective. I pop it on my head, wrap it around me as i meditate and I’m toasty and comfy. The patterns they have are amazing. I also have a flow dream clock
Zen Sand Garden
Charlotte Recommends: A sand garden, characterised by its minimalist design of raked sand and carefully placed rocks, serves as a meditative space that promotes mindfulness and tranquillity. The act of raking patterns in the sand mimics the flow of water, helping you to focus your thoughts and cultivate a sense of calm, making it an effective tool for stress reduction and introspection. By engaging with the garden, you can enhance your meditation practice, finding clarity and peace in the simplicity of the environment.
