'TOOLBELT FOR LIFE' EDITION
|
| | |
|
Welcome to December’s Toolbelt for Life. This is the month when daylight is scarce, the pace of the year softens, and nature invites us inward. It is also the month when we begin the slow journey back to the light. After the darkness of late autumn, something subtle starts to shift. Not loudly. Not suddenly. Quietly. Steadily.
Our theme this month is Reclaiming Your Light.
Not the polished, festive kind of light we are told to project. The real one. The inner one. The one that flickers when we are tired, that brightens when we feel aligned, and that strengthens when we care for ourselves in small but meaningful ways.
This newsletter is your gentle companion for the month. A pocket of warmth, tools, and inspiration to help you nurture your energy, reconnect with yourself, and create a sense of brightness from within as we close out the year. |

Reclaiming Your Light in the Dark Months |
|
As we move into December, the days feel shorter, the air feels heavier, and everything in nature is slowing right down. It is the time of year when many of us feel our energy dipping and our inner spark dimming a little. I always notice it in myself. My motivation softens, my body wants to cocoon, and my mood leans towards quiet.
This year though, something shifted. Instead of retreating completely, I found myself experimenting with a new way of staying vibrant. I started making wellness social.
It began with a friend suggesting floatation therapy. Normally I go alone, treating it like a private ritual, but this time we turned it into an afternoon adventure. We laughed far more than anyone should on the way into a sensory deprivation tank. There was something about sharing the experience that made it lighter, brighter, and far more energising than usual.
Then came contrast therapy. A hot sauna followed by a plunge pool that could wake the ancestors. Again, I went with someone. There is a strange kind of magic in stepping into cold water beside another human. It is a shared moment of courage. You come out laughing, buzzing, and very present in your body. It felt like striking a match in the middle of winter.
And most recently, cryotherapy with a different friend. Three minutes in Arctic temperatures is not for the faint hearted, yet doing it together brought a sense of playfulness. We came out pink faced, wide awake, and full of that unmistakable feeling of aliveness.
What I realised is that reclaiming your light does not always mean finding solitude or silence. Sometimes it comes from connection. Sometimes from shared resilience, shared courage, or shared laughter. Sometimes your light grows stronger when you let other people witness you stepping into something new.
So this month, I am holding the idea that vibrancy can be a group activity. That winter can be a time of warmth through companionship. That we can choose to rise together, even in the darker seasons.
Maybe there is something you could try with a friend this month. Something that feels brave, playful, or simply restorative. Something that helps you reclaim your light in a way that feels joyful.
Because light is not only something we carry within. It is something we spark in each other. |

A Gentle Question for Your Week
This month is an invitation to turn inward and notice the places where your light feels strong and the places where it needs a little more care. The darker season makes this easier to sense. Our bodies whisper for rest. Our minds ask for clarity. Our energy becomes more honest.
So here is your practice prompt for the week:
What would reclaiming my light look like in one small daily action?
You do not need a big plan. You do not need a New Year style reset. All you need is one simple act each day that helps you feel a little more alive, a little more centred, a little more you.
It might be
• a moment of fresh air before work
• a warm drink without any screens
• a deep, slow breath at the door before you walk inside
• reaching out to someone who lifts you
• five minutes of soft movement
• lighting a candle and enjoying the stillness
Whatever you choose, let it be gentle. Let it be nourishing. Let it be something that helps your inner light flicker a little brighter during the darkest weeks of the year.
Small actions repeated with intention create real change. Let this be your invitation to begin. |

Fire Rituals |
|
As we reach the darkest point of the year, fire becomes more than a source of warmth. It becomes a symbol of clarity, renewal, and the return of light. This is why fire rituals have been used across cultures for thousands of years. Not as grand ceremonies but as simple, grounding practices that help us let go of what feels heavy and welcome in what feels hopeful.
A fire ritual can be as humble as lighting a candle with intention or as powerful as writing down what you want to release and watching it turn to ash. It gives your mind and your nervous system a physical moment of transformation. What you carry changes shape. What you set free clears space for something new.
This month, fire rituals align perfectly with the Winter Solstice and the turning of the year. It is the ideal moment to pause, reflect, and gently burn away the energy, habits, or stories that have dimmed your light. The flame becomes a partner in renewal. It mirrors the light beginning its slow return in nature. It holds the energy of endings and beginnings all in one place.
If you have never tried a fire ritual before, the process can be simple, safe, and very calming. It does not need to be mystical. It does not need to be dramatic. It only needs to be intentional.
If you are planning to mark the Winter Solstice or welcome the New Year with a moment of reflection, a fire ritual is a beautiful way to reclaim your light and step into the season with clarity.

Winter Solstice Sound Bath by Dynasty Electrik |
|
If you are looking for a calming and restorative moment this month, this beautiful Winter Solstice sound bath is one of my favourites. It blends crystal bowls, soft music, and gentle ceremonial energy to help you settle, re-centre, and reconnect with your inner light. It is the perfect companion for journalling, relaxation, or a quiet evening ritual.
Of course if you can get yourself an in-person sound-bath around the Solstice then do that - feeling the vibrations breats hearing them everytime. (if you're in London and fancy one - don't forget our Alchemist Sally offers them from Chelsea.) |

Red Light Therapy Device |
|
Winter can leave our energy feeling a little low, which is why I have added the a Red Light Therapy Device to our Frequency and Energy range. Red and near infrared light support cellular energy, mood, and overall vitality, making it a brilliant tool for the darker months.
I love how simple it is to use. A few minutes a day is enough to feel its benefits, and the soft glow creates a calming moment in your routine. It is a practical way to nourish your body with light when nature gives us less of it.This one is great as it's multi-functional - wear on a belt, as a barlight, overhead or at any angle that works for you - I like that versatility.
A gentle daily boost of light can make all the difference this season. |

Lessons from Bioluminescence |
|
When winter settles in and daylight becomes scarce, much of the natural world seems to dim. Yet in the darkest environments on Earth, there are creatures and organisms that glow. Fireflies drifting through warm forests, plankton lighting the edges of the sea, and deep ocean beings that shimmer in places sunlight has never touched. Even fungi, tucked beneath rotting logs or climbing up damp bark, pulse with a soft green light that can only be seen once night fully arrives.
Their glow is not borrowed. It is made.
A quiet spark generated from within.
Bioluminescent beings do not wait for brightness to find them. They create it where they are. Their light guides, communicates, protects, and sometimes simply expresses their presence in a space that most creatures would find overwhelming.
There is something powerful in that.
Because there are seasons in our own lives when external light feels faint. When clarity is low, energy softer, and the world heavier. It is easy to wait for circumstances to brighten before we do, postponing joy or hope until light returns by itself.
But nature reminds us that illumination can come from inside too.
A spark of courage.
A small act of care.
A moment of truth.
A breath that recentres you.
A choice that lifts your spirit, even slightly.
Just like the fungi glowing quietly beneath the forest canopy, we can carry a light that shines even when no one else can see the source. A steady, self generated glow that helps us find our way through the dark.
And as the year turns and daylight slowly increases, that inner light becomes the bridge between where we have been and where we are heading. A reminder that we are never fully in the dark when we learn to illuminate ourselves.

Thank you for joining me this month. December can be a tender time, and it is easy to lose sight of the small sparks that keep us grounded, hopeful, and connected. My wish for you is that you notice your light a little more often. That you protect it gently. That you let it grow in ways that feel true to you.
As the year comes to an end, remember that your light does not need to be loud or impressive. It only needs to be yours. And the more you tend to it, the more it will guide you into the new year with clarity, confidence, and a deeper sense of self.
Wishing you a warm, restful, light filled December. If something in this newsletter supported you, inspired you, or made you pause in a good way, I would love to hear from you.
